Export Putty Settings Quickly, Importing to Portable Putty

The amount of times i've had to do export my Putty settings, and have been running regedit and then searching for the SimonTatham key/dir, then exporting, when all you really need to do is open a command prompt and type the following :-

regedit /e "%userprofile%\desktop\putty-registry.reg" HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Simontatham

Whilst on this note, if you ever need to export your settings from a non-portable version of Putty, and import into a portable version do the following :-

a) Export your settings from the non portable version to some .reg file

b) Open your portable version on the new machine - don't close it yet

c) Copy across your .reg file and double click it

d) No close your portable Putty, and Portable Putty will save the reg settings out to it's settings folder, and remove settings from the registry

Now when you reopen Portable Putty will load the settings back is - simplez ! :)

1) Open RegEdit

2) Navigate to : HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

3) Add a new DWord with a value of 1

4) Exit RegEdit

Now the admin shares should be available.

Prevent Browser Caching of 301 Redirect

Here's a handy PHP function to send a 301 redirect, with out the browser caching it.   In otherwords such that you can then remove the redirect at a later date, with out browsers still keeping a hold of it :-

function noCacheRedirect($url)
{
   header("Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate"); // HTTP/1.1
   header("Expires: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT"); // Date in the past
   header('Location: '.$url, TRUE, 301);
   exit();
}

I Bought a New Car - MR2 !!

finally bought the car i've always wanted

I finally got around to buying a new car !    I made a fair bit of cash in the last tax year, and the tax man says i can afford a new car, so i am now a proud owner of an MR2 Sportster/Roadster, and i'm absolutely loving it !!

New Car - MR2

I bought it from Yate Cars Sales and to be honest, i totally recommend buying a used car from these guys.   I can't rate/recommend them enough !    For starters, all of their cars come with a 2 year warranty included in any price they are asking.   The sales staff are totally unpushy, they are more helpful than pushy, and will talk all day to you about a car you're looking at, with out pushing for the sale !    And on top of all of this, i had an issue with the new MR2 only a few miles up the road, the Engine Management Light went orange, so i turned around and took it straight back, and they were no fuss at all, "no problem we'll get that sorted for you, at our cost of course !"  You seriously cannot find more honest and fair than that !

Inpulse Watch - alerts from your smart phone on you wrist

Yet *another* gadget i've now seen and want.

InPulse Smart Watch

From the reading i've done it allows you send information (via apps) to the InPulse watch on your wrist.   For example you could show the time ;)    or maybe you want to show the incoming calls details so you dont even need to get your phone out if you dont want to talk to the caller ..... there is also apparently an app that will push incoming email data to the watch to.

Maybe not the most useful of any gadgets around, but just one of those gadgets that i just want for the 'cool' factor.
